Media Trainings “Feminist Media Reading”

Media Trainings “Feminist Media Reading” are part of a wider program and continuation of what BeFem has been focused on in the past several years. They promote and produce feminist knowledge and policies, as well as resistance to strategies of growing neo-conservativism, rise of anti-anti-fascism, racism and militarism. Developing our educational and media programs aims to advance capacities of organizations and individuals for communication in various fields. Our trainings combine theoretical (gender and media studies), practical, technical and social capacities of citizens to access, critically assess, read, use and create information and media content via traditional media and digital platforms. In order to reach equal rights and opportunities, it is important that women and men conquer media space under equal circumstances, and to make both male and female reality equally important and “visible”. It is especially important to provide visibility of different realities and various minority and marginalized groups, and it is therefore crucial to persistently advocate for equality in the media.

Media and feminist education make just a first step toward media literacy.
